Oct. 30, 2012, Baltimore – Beginning Monday, Nov. 5, A Taste of History, the four-time Emmy Award-winning series that explores America’s culinary roots, comes to RLTV, the only cable network and online destination for adults 50+.

This innovative series, hosted by renowned, award-winning chef Walter Staib, brings to life America’s vibrant and flavorful history, revisiting our country’s founding and its founders through the food they ate and the recipes they prepared.  A master of open-hearth cookery, Chef Staib demonstrates a remarkable talent for the preparation of sophisticated 18th century cuisine, which is sure to inspire home-cooks.

A Taste of History allows viewers the opportunity to recreate America’s early culinary history, while gaining a better understanding of the relationship between food and our founders. A Taste of History is taped in significant historic locations from Jefferson’s Monticello to Philadelphia’s Rittenhouse town to Colonial Williamsburg and the banks of the Delaware River at Washington’s Crossing. In each episode, Chef Staib explores the origin of featured recipes and ingredients to reveal historical context.  Viewers will rediscover how the preparation of food and the dining experience helped shape our country and is relevant to our culture today.

A Taste of History combines the best of history, culture and hands on ‘how to’ cooking demonstrations, all genres of programming that are of great interest to RLTV viewers, who have a thirst for life-long learning,” said RLTV Senior Vice President of Programming and Production Elliot Jacobson. “We are delighted that Chef Staib and A Taste of History are joining the RLTV family, and are confident it is this type of relevant programming that will strongly resonate with our viewers.”

“We are proud to join in partnership with RLTV and make the network the new home for A Taste of History,” said Chef Staib. “We look forward to working together to make more Americans aware of their culinary history and to help them experience first hand what food and dining would have been like in our nation’s early days and to enjoy the flavors .”

Beginning November 5, RLTV will air back-to-back episodes weekdays at 1 and 1:30 PM.  Additional episodes will also air Wednesdays at 8 and 8:30 PM, repeating at 11 and 11:30 PM (all times ET), starting Nov. 7.
