Lea Thompson is Chief Consumer Correspondent for NBC's Dateline. She is known for her hard-hitting investigative pieces particularly focused on consumer, health, safety and environmental issues. Thompson's stories are responsible for legislation in California requiring all bedding and mattresses to be flame retardant and all home health aides to have background checks. Her work also brought about new warning labels on Infant Tylenol and forced Burger King to launch a clean up campaign after her Dateline story showed it to be the "dirtiest" fast food chain. Thompson's role as one of NBC's top investigative reporters has earned her major journalism accolades, including the prestigious Gerald Loeb Award.
